UCG Optics Canon FD 35mm T2.1

Summary

The Canon FD lens series, produced from 1971 to 1989, initially featured SC/SSC variants with advanced Super Spectra Coating technology before evolving into the nFD/FD-L series with refined optical designs. These lenses gained renewed recognition when cinematographers discovered their optical DNA shared striking similarities with the Oscar-winning K35 cine lenses–particularly in their low-contrast rendering and signature purple-orange flare characteristics. While originally engineered for still photography, UCG Optics' modern rehousing solutions have transformed FD lenses into viable cinematic tools. They not only provide a cost-effective alternative to rare K35 optics, but also expand focal length options beyond the K35's traditional range.
