Pentax 67 SMC Takumar 55mm f/3.5
Summary
The Super-Takumar 6×7 / Super-Multi-Coated (S-M-C) Takumar 6×7 55mm f/3.5 is a wide-angle prime introduced in 1969 for the Pentax 6×7 medium format system, offering a field of view equivalent to about 28mm on 35mm format. It was one of the earliest wide-angle options for the system and remained in production until 1979, when it was replaced by the optically revised SMC Pentax 6×7 55mm f/4. Both the Super-Takumar and S-M-C versions share the same optical formula, differing only in coatings. Optically, it features an 8-element - 7-group design with an 8-blade automatic diaphragm, stopping down to f/22. The lens focuses as close as 45cm, delivering a 0.17× magnification ratio, and uses a massive 100mm filter thread—a rarity that makes filters expensive and hard to find. It weighs 920g, measures 103 × 82mm, and includes an inner bayonet mount, manual aperture ring, and built-in lens hood bayonet. There’s no internal focusing or weather sealing, and the lens lacks an “A” setting for auto exposure.
Came in two variants with similar specs:
Super Takumar 6×7 55mm f/3.5 in 1969; Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 6×7 55mm f/3.5 in 1971
