Summary

The future of cinema will have many formats and sensors will continue to get larger. As others rehouse Hasselblad, Mamiya, or Pentax medium format lenses, we find that glass to be modern, clean, and frankly…a bit boring. Make no mistake, those are all good lenses. But they were designed to get the sharpest cleanest, highest resolution possible for 645, 6×6 and 6×7 film. Our Series 65 Cinema Primes have much different priorities.

We went in search of a look that is rich in vintage character, just like the full frame lenses we offer. After several years of obsessive testing together with Mark LaFleur of Old Fast Glass, Series 65 Cinema Primes are the result of our efforts. A complete set of nine vintage 65mm lenses (25,30,35,45,55,65,85,125,175) with a truly cohesive and character rich look. Series 65 lenses offer high resolution easlily resolving all the detail needed for 65mm motion picture formats, but with an equal amount of character and beauty.

Series 65 Cinema Primes all have a 60mm or larger image circle. That means all focal lengths cover ARRI Alexa 65 open gate, 65mm film (5 perf), or Black Magic Ursa 17K without vignette. No optical expanders or adapters were used, and all lenses are made with genuine vintage optics.

All focal lengths have a 110mm front diameter and stainless steel LPL mounts. Close focus capabilities of Series 65 lenses are quite impressive. The 30mm and 35mm share a remarkable close focus distance of 8 inches! A high gloss black finish and raised metal logo gives Series 65 a gorgeous American classic car aesthetic. The lenses are as beautiful as the images they produce.
