Also known as the Beijing Institute of Radio Metrology and Measurement, it is one of China's defense-related research and development institutions. Under the administration of the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC), it is responsible for the research, development and production of various aerospace and defense technologies in China. In addition to its core military and aerospace functions, the Beijing 608 Factory expanded its expertise in optics to serve in civilian markets.
