The Master Prime lenses have been jointly developed by ARRI and ZEISS. They are both fast and have an optical performance surpassing that of all standard speed primes. Master Prime lenses open up new creative opportunities of film making. The Master Prime lenses open up new creative opportunities, making shots possible that would have been considered impossible before. A widest stop of T1.3 allows shooting in low or available light for more natural-looking shots and a reduction of the lighting budget. In addition, a wide open stop creates the cinematic look of an extremely shallow depth of field.

Known Issues:
1. Arri and Sony didn't reach an agreement on LDS data so Sony cameras do not read LDS data (such as on Master Primes) so if anyone complains that their LDS lens is not working on a Sony camera specifically, it is because of this.
Service Manual: Disassembly/Re-assembly
Full CLA: 10-14 hrs.
Enter relevant notes here
Centering optics: 1-2 hrs.
TBD
Adjust field: 2 hrs
located under fornt engraved ring. set screws are angled to tilt glass.
optics only: 6-10 hrs. (quote higher end if focusing group/stationary group in front of iris due to field/centering disruption)
most optics (front/rear groups) can be removed (threaded) without disassembling most exterior rings (rear group requires mount removal, front group requires beauty ring removal). Rear optical group can be unscrewed from rear up to iris blades. Mid/focusing/stationary group (in front of iris) require basically a full disassembly (iris ring/electronics/focus scale and cam/followers/follower blocks)
re-align optics: 2-5 hrs
if alignment cannot be corrected by usual measures, more disassembly may be necessary to access internal optics.
swap metric/imperial focus scale: 1 hr.
focus scale has metric and imperial built in. just need to flip the scale.
T+S focus stop(s): 1 hr.
focus stop is located under iris. small “L” bracket help in by 3 or 4 screws to focus scale hits metal block located under rear most electronic component under iris. tightening both should fix stop issue, though it's usually the focus scale stop that is the culprit. Use red locktite on the screws for the focus scale hard stop since this piece never needs to be removed during disassembly; while three-bond should be used on hard stop located under electronics.
Focus scrapes: 1 hr.
most likely focus stop brass block/screws on ID of focus scale is scraping against edge of electronic board. loosen screws and adjust board to reduce scraping noise.
replace serial # ring: 2 hrs.
this part comes as an assembly. order parts: # 1284-395, # 1273-574, # 1270-535, together. parts are listed separately in QB as well as an assembly item for easy quoting to customers.
