The Kilfitt Makro-Kilar lenses, introduced in 1955, were the first 35mm SLR macro lenses to focus from infinity to close-up magnifications. Designed by Heinz Kilfitt, the Makro-Kilar D achieves 1:1 life-size reproduction, while the E offers 1:2 magnification, both using a Tessar-type optical design.
